On Tuesday January 24, 2012 observers looked for the new moon from Jerusalem but the horizon was covered with heavy clouds and it was not sighted. The moon should have been easily visible had there been no clouds.

Services Feb. 18th Sabbath 2012

You are invited to services on Sabbath Feb. 18th 2012 at the Millerstown Community Center from 2-6pm. Since we will not be meeting again until after Purim in March (Purim falls on sundown March 7th and we are meeting at the Grange on March 10th that month) we will be studying the book of Esther this month. We are asking that everyone who would like to, please bring items to fill a basket with (for example, canned foods, crackers, hard candies, tooth brush, lap blanket, soap, gift cards to Giant or Weis, etc.) and we will have baskets avail to be filled. Once filled, we will deliver to the Newport Sr. Citizens organization on Thurs. March 8th (sorry, Purim starts at sundown the 7th my bad :) with instructions to please hand out to widows/poor in the organization. If you would like to make a card to go with it, that would be wonderful. The baskets are just regular sized, so we will fit as much into each one as we can and make more if there are any items left over. Please bring a kosher dish to share if you like, also.

On Sunday December 25, 2011 observers from Israel looked for the new moon but it was not sighted. It was raining throughout the country. Visibility would have been uncertain even under ideal conditions so unless another report comes in of a sighting, new moon will be Monday night December 26. My thanks to Yoel Halevi, Devorah Gordon, and David Cachicas for braving the Jerusalem rain to carry out the observation this month in the Holy City.

Feast of Tabernacles 2011
Well, it is hard to believe that this will be our final email about information for the Feast of Tabernacles! As you know, we will be hosting Yahweh’s Feast of Tabernacles this year at the Paradise Stream Family Campground, in Loysville, PA. Our family will be setting up on Thursday, October 13th and leaving on Sunday October 23rd.
This will be a personal responsibility feast. Each family should bring enough food and place settings for their family. We will try to meet together as often as we can for corporate meals, with each household bringing a dish to share, and their own place settings, especially for lunch on the High Days.
All activities scheduled are completely voluntary.
Each head of household is welcome to bring their teachings, and family members any specials, talents, etc. This is Yahweh’s Feast, and all are welcome.
Please note, there are two double Sabbaths. Preparation day for them will be on Thurs., and the schedule will be light on Thurs. so that everyone can make their own preparations. (*This reminder is for those observing the Jerusalem sighting of the new moon - if you are on a different calendar, please plan accordingly)
There is a camp store, a laundry room and bath/shower facilities on the premises. The mini golf should be open. The pool will be closed, but if it is warm enough to swim, there is a creek to swim/wade in. There is a play ground, a game room, and a stocked lake with peddle boats.

Wed. the 19th at 7pm: Market Place night. If you have any crafts to sell, this is the night to do that! Sixth Biblical Month

On Tuesday August 30, 2011 observers across Israel looked for the new moon but it was not sighted. Visibility was uncertain even under ideal weather conditions due to a short lagtime of only 35 minutes. Lagtime refers to the time between sunset and moonset. This month the moon set only 35 minutes after the sun. During those 35 minutes, the light of the sun had not faded enough for the moon to be visible, and by the time it got dark enough, the moon had already set or was too close to the horizon to see. Normally when the moon has a short lagtime, it coincides with a small percentage of the moon's surface facing Earth being illuminated. This month the short lagtime of 35 minutes coincided with an unusually high illumination of 3.71% making a concerted effort at sighting the moon worthwhile. Despite our efforts we did not see the moon. Clouds may have played a factor in our negative sighting. New moon day will be tomorrow evening, Wednesday August 31, 2011.

Shalom! We wanted to Thank everyone who came out for the Israeli Cultural Day on Sabbath for all the time, effort, food, well, everything you helped do to make the day a success!
This is a preliminary email about the Feast of Tabernacles. We will be hosting Yahweh’s Feast of Tabernacles this year at the Paradise Stream Family Campground, in Loysville, PA. Our family will be setting up on Thursday, October 13th and leaving on Sunday October 23rd. This will be a personal responsibility feast. To help keep the schedule organized, if you have a teaching you would like to share, or anything else, please call Dave so that we can make one schedule to hand out, to include a time slot for you.

If you would like to teach or co teach a workshop please call so we can add/ schedule it. If you have an idea for a workshop that wasn’t mentioned, please call so we can try to accommodate the idea. The next High Day in conjunction with this Feast cycle (The Spring Feasts of Yahweh) is Shavuot or Pentecost. This falls on First day, June 12th, 2011 which is a sunday. We will be camping at the Paradise Stream Family Campground in Loysville, PA http://www.campparadisestream.com/

Due to Shavuot falling right after Sabbath, and we do no servile work on a Sabbath, we will be staying from the afternoon of Friday, June 10th, and paying until nightfall on the 12th. The camp ground is only charging by the hour after check out until we leave. The day fee is 5.00 to come out and join us for services. We will be paying the day fees after Shavuot is over.
We will be meeting on Sabbath, Sat. June 11th at 10am for scripture study at the campground in the pavilion. We will meet again on Sabbath, Sat. June 11th at 2pm for scripture study also. Keeping a Kosher Home: Or, Keeping a Biblically Clean Home

What does the word kosher mean?
Kosher : Encyclopedia: In Judaism the fitness of an object for ritual purposes. Though generally applied to foods that meet the requirements of the dietary laws (kashrus), kosher is also used to describe, for instance, such objects as a Torah scroll, water for ritual bathing (mikvah), and the ritual ram’s horn (Shofar). When applied to food, kosher is the opposite of terefah (forbidden) when applied to other things, it is the opposite of pasul (unfit).

What does Kashruth or kashrus mean: World English Dictionary: The condition of being fit for ritual use in general
The system of dietary laws which require ritual slaughter, the removal of excess blood from meat and the complete separation of milk and meat and prohibit such foods as pork and shellfish.
Literally: appropriateness, fitness.

As you can see, the traditions of Judaism have crept into the definitions of what makes food acceptable. We will just stick with the Torah laws found in Leviticus and Deut. We call it kosher just because most people are familiar with the term. We do not include the Talmudic kosher laws found only in the Talmud which was written between 200-500CE.

There was a time when all food preparations were done in the family's own kitchen. Back then, it was obvious that pig's feet were not kosher, and ice cream was. In the past few decades, however, there has been a revolution in the way we eat. Almost 90 percent of our food is now processed before reaching our kitchens.
The problem that many encounter, when they decide to start eating kosher, or even if they have been eating kosher for a number of years, is the many different ingredients that are listed on food products. It would almost require a person to have a degree in chemistry, to know the origin of most of those listed ingredients and the ingredients in a product can change periodically as companies strive to cut costs for the sake of profit. People who decide to keep kosher, after living a life as a “quote un quote” gentile, often feel that it is difficult. Actually, keeping kosher is not very difficult in and of itself; what makes it difficult to keep kosher is the fact that the rest of the world does not do so. One quarter we do get help from is the vegetarian market. They magnify our voice so to speak in the arena of ingredients that tend to fall on the kosher side.

What about all the other products we bring into our homes? It is much easier to keep a kosher home when we stick with single ingredient cleaners, such as baking soda, lemon juice, vinegar and salt. If we are bringing in other products, it is best to do a google or Wiki search for the origination of the ingredients in those products.

When we purchase any food in a grocery store, we do not know who is involved in its production, what their religious beliefs are or when they harvested the items included in it. We are almost to the point where we have no idea what is in it, including cells from other animals, organisms, (GMO), etc. I am sure you are all aware of the nightmare ingredients in some GMO foods now, which include, Soybeans, Cottonseed, Corn, Alfalfa, Hawaiian Papaya, Tomatoes, Rapeseed (Canola), Sugar Cane, Sugar Beet, Rice, Squash (Zucchini) and Sweet Peppers.

Genetically modified foods (or GM foods) are foods derived from genetically modified organisms. Genetically modified organisms have had specific changes introduced into their DNA by genetic engineering techniques. These techniques are much more precise[1] than mutagenesis (mutation breeding) where an organism is exposed to radiation or chemicals to create a non-specific but stable change. Other techniques by which humans modify food organisms include selective breeding; plant breeding, and animal breeding, and somaclonal variation.
GM foods were first put on the market in the early 1990s. Typically, genetically modified foods are transgenic plant products: soybean, corn, canola, and cotton seed oil. Animal products have also been developed, although as of July 2010 none are currently on the market.[2] In 2006 a pig was controversially[3][4] engineered to produce omega-3 fatty acids through the expression of a roundworm gene.[5] Researchers have also developed a genetically-modified breed of pigs that are able to absorb plant phosphorus more efficiently, and as a consequence the phosphorus content of their manure is reduced by as much as 60%.[6]

Another area of recent concern has been the discussion of whether or not Torah observant people should purchase and eat things that are Halal. Halal means lawful or legal and is a term designating any object or an action which is permissible to use or engage in, according to Islamic law. The term is used to designate food seen as permissible according to Islamic law (Sharia). The opposite of this word is haraam. To discuss whether we should purchase and eat anything marked as Halal or perhaps dedicated to Buddah at a Chinese restaurant or any thing of this nature, we turn to the scriptures:
Please turn to 1 Corinthians chapter 8.
Chapter 8
1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
3 But if any man love Yahweh, the same is known of him.
4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other Elohim but one.
5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
6 But to us there is but one Elohim, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Messiah, Yahshua, by whom are all things, and we by him.
7 Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
8 But meat commendeth us not to Yahweh: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of your's become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Yahshua died?
12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Yahshua.
13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

Now, to me, this passage is saying, that if people know you worship Yahweh and accept the sacrifice of Yahshua, and they know you do not sacrifice to idols, yet they see you freely eating meat sacrificed to an idol because you know there are none - that a brother could misinterpret from that situation that it is ok to keep ones idols and sacrifice to them and eat the meat.

Here is another passage: 1 Corinthians 10: 27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
28But if any man say unto you, this is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Yahweh's, and the fulness thereof:
29Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?
30For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?
31Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of Yahweh.
32Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the Assembly of Yahweh:
33Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

Here again, we have Shaul telling us that if we eat at another’s house, we don’t have to insult them by asking if the meat was Halal or dedicated to Buddha (As long, of course, as it is a permissible meat to eat according to Torah!- we would never eat swine whether it was dedicated to Yahweh, Buddha or No One!).
So, if we are shopping in a store and we pick up a kosher product according to Torah, or we are in a restaurant and we order something kosher, Shaul is saying that it doesn’t matter if the thing was dedicated to a non existent idol. On the other hand, if you are at someone’s house and they make a point to tell you that the meat was dedicated to allah, then, Shaul’s advice to us is to refuse the meat, so that you do not confuse the person about what you believe! If you then eat the meat, he may think that you have sympathies that lie in the direction of believing in allah.

As we approach the Tribulation, it seems that it is going to get harder and harder to eat an acceptable diet, especially if we only continue to buy things from the corporately owned supermarkets. In our family we are planting a garden and buying more and more plants that will make us as self sufficient as we can be within our financial and physical limitations. We have heeded Yahweh’s instructions to store up food for the Sabbatical years and that is a way of life for us now. We also have a video that shows how to package food in mylar bags, add oxygen absorbers, seal the bags with heat and store in 5 gallon buckets with gaskets. There is also a man who sells barrels on Rte. 104 in Liverpool. You can also buy large quantities of grain from area feed mills. You will probably want to stock up on things that are being rapidly destroyed like rice due to the Mississippi flooding and of course Fukushima before that. Although we can not find a specific verse specifying that radiation is not kosher, unless we point to the wormwood verse, we can use our Yahweh given intelligence to understand that ingesting radiation is not good for our “Temples” so to speak. In the news we read that radioactive water was dumped into the Mississippi River by accident from the Grand Gulf Nuclear Plant in Mississippi. (See article). We are watching the fallout prediction maps for Fukushima and in order to avoid the bulk of the radiation, we are drinking milks that are somewhat protected from fall out in the almond and the coconut, which both have shells as a protection. When planting our garden, we have put off planting broad leaf vegetables such as spinach, which absorb radioactive rain. Root vegetables and narrow leaf vegetables do not get as much exposure. The radiation goes down through the dirt and is not absorbed as much by the plant. It goes without saying that we rely on Yahweh to protect us after we have obeyed everything we can in his Torah, such as the Sabbatical year injunctions to store up food, which was not contaminated, and doing our part to be as self sufficient as possible, as we read in 1st Thess. 4:11-12 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; 12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing. (Quiet is number 2270 and means refrain form meddlesome ness-which means to officiously intrusive which is to involve yourself in something in which you are not invited to be involved in.)
If we take this advice and are being diligent now, we will be able to help many and to continue to share the Good News with any who are seeking it and continue on with the Great Commission.

David's letter to the state of Pennsylvania.....

I, David Laverty, claim religious persecution by the state of Pennsylvania on

the following grounds:

Sunday Blue Laws have interfered with my ability to pursue my own

happiness (Sec 1 Declaration of Rights sub section Inherent Rights of

Mankind) whereas being an avid hunter I have not been able to pursue

hunting on the first day of the week, there by being persecuted for following

the laws of the Creator of the Universe Most High, “Yahweh”, as laid down

in the Holy Scriptures and given at Mt. Sinai, written with the very finger of

Elohim. These laws can be referenced in Exodus 20: 8-11, Exodus 31: 12-

18, Leviticus 23:3 and Genesis 1:31 and 2:3.

This is also a violation of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of

Pennsylvania, Article 1 Declaration of Rights, Sec 3 Religious Freedom.

All men have a natural and indefeasible right to worship Almighty God

according to the dictates of their own consciences; no man can of a right, be

compelled to attend, erect or support any place of worship, or to maintain

any ministry against his consent. No human authority can, in any case

whatever, control or interfere with the rights of conscience and no

preference shall ever be given by law to any religious establishments or

modes of worship.

By interfering with my desire, and my right to hunt on the first day of the week, mainly, Sunday, the state of Pennsylvania has violated my natural and

indefeasible right to worship almighty Yahweh according to the dictates of

my conscience. The have compelled me to support a place of worship and a

mode of worship, not prescribed by the Holy Scriptures, but grounded in

Paganism and founded by the Roman Emperor Constantine in 321 AD.

exactly what you have done, in violation of the Creator, Yahweh’s, law and

the Constitution of the State of PA. You have given preference, by law, to

the Catholic Church and the Protestant Church. You have left out and

persecuted Jews, 7th Day Adventists, 7th Day Baptists, Messianic Jews, and

all others who do not worship on the 1st day of the week.

I am compelled to obey the 7th Day Sabbath laid down by the Creator of the

Universe, since the beginning of the time of Creation.

Second Biblical Month (correction)

Tonight (Wednesday May 4, 2011) was actually the 31st evening since the previous sighting making it new moon day by default, even if we did not succeed in sighting the moon. On the previous evening sighting would have been impossible from Israel even under ideal conditions. That makes tonight the beginning of the 2nd biblical month. Sorry for the confusion.

We looked for the moon on Wednesday May 4, 2011 from Israel. It should have been visible under good viewing conditions but there were clouds across Israel and so far no one has reported seeing it. Those who accept the principle of "potential visibility" will be observing tonight as new moon since it would have been visible if there had not been clouds. However, those who accept the principle of raw 30-day visibility will observe new moon day tomorrow night.

Earthquakes in the Scriptures

Just about 2000 years ago, this week, earthquakes were “in the news” so to speak, as they are in our own time. Only these earthquakes were connected to the death and resurrection of our Messiah, Yahshua.
When we look at the words in the scriptures connected with earthquakes, we find the words Earthquake, earthquakes, shake, shaking, shaketh, quake(d), shook and tremble(d).
In Strong’s the definition for Earthquake is number 7494 and it means: ) quaking, rattling, shaking
It is from number 7493 which means: ra`ash raw-ash a primitive root; to undulate (as the earth, the sky, etc.; also a field of grain, partic. through fear; specifically, to spring (as a locust):--make afraid, (re-)move, quake, (make to) shake, (make to) tremble.

Earthquakes is number 4578 and means: 1) a shaking, a commotion
2) a tempest
3) an earthquake

Shake is number 7493 and means: ) to quake, shake
(also used of the rustling of grain moved by the wind- also to terrify the nations- (Gesenius’s Lexicon)

Shaken is number : 1607 and means to shake, quake
To push, to thrust, to push with the horn (my note, *as a bull does or a goat). (Gesenis’s Lexicon)

Shaketh is number 7264 and means: tremble, quake, rage, quiver, be agitated, be excited, be perturbed
To be moved with anger to be angry to act with anger etc. (Gesenis’s Lexicon)
Shaketh is also number 2342 which means to twist, to return, to turn oneself around, to be born, to writhe in pain.

A partial list of the earthquakes that are mentioned in the Scriptures:
(1) At Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:18);
(2) Korah and companions destroyed in fissure and sinking ground (Numbers 16:31; Ant, IV, iii, Numbers 3);
(3) in the Philistine camp in the days of Saul (1 Samuel 14:15);
(4) after Eliyah's flight (1 Kings 19:11);
(5) in the reign of Uzziah, between 790 and 740 BC (Amos 1:1); Zechariah 14:5 probably refers to the same (Ant., IX, x, 4);
(6) at Yahshua’s death (Matthew 27:51-54);
(7) at Yahshua's resurrection (Matthew 28:2);
(8) In Acts when the Holy Spirit was given Acts 4:31.
(9) at Philippi when Paul and Silas were freed from prison (Acts 16:26).
(10) Five references in the book of Revelation.

The quaking of the earth is an indication to us, on earth, of the presence of Yahweh (Judges 5:4-5; 2Sam 22:8; Psalms 77:18; 97:4; 104:32).
In the Scriptures earthquakes are also mentioned as manifestations of Yahweh's power (Job 9:6) and of His presence and anger (Psalms 68:8; 18:7; Isaiah 13:13: "She shall be visited of Yahweh of hosts .... with earthquake, and great noise" (Isaiah 29:6); also as a sign of Yahshua's "coming, and of the end of the world" (Matthew 24:3-7). See also Revelation 11:13,19; 16:18.

On the day that Yahshua was hung on the tree, there were 3 major unusual events that the scriptures tell us took place. One was Darkness at mid day: Matthew 27:45. This was not a solar eclipse. This happened at Passover during a full moon. You can only have a solar eclipse during a new moon. This incident should bring to mind the darkness of the Egyptian plagues in Exodus 10:21 And Yahweh said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness [which] may be felt. This was also not a solar eclipse!
Then, there was the torn temple curtain in Matthew 27:50 and at the same time we read in Matthew 27:51-54 that there was an earthquake.
This was no ordinary earthquake. When this earthquake occurred, the “harvested grain” so to speak, was shaken awake! Why did this happen? In part I believe it was because there was a schism between the Sadducees and the Pharisees regarding resurrection. Of course, even if there had not been a schism, it was a sign to the world that there IS a resurrection.

The Pharisees [and followers of Yahshua], on the other hand, believed in the resurrection of the dead. When Paul had to explain his ideas to a court in which some members were Pharisees and others Sadducees, he found it easy to create division among his judges.
When Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, 'Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!'
And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees; and the assembly was divided. For Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, and no angel or spirit; but the Pharisees confess both. Then there arose a loud outcry. And the scribes of the Pharisees' party arose and protested, saying, 'We find no evil in this man; but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.' [ Acts 23.6-9]

The second earthquake connected with Yahshua’s death was the one in Matthew 28:1-4 when Mary Magdalene and Mary came to the sepulcher when the malak-(angel, messenger) rolled back the stone from the door and sat upon it.

The dual earthquakes at the crucifixion of Yahshua are shadow pictures of the greater earthquakes that will occur at His return.

A third earthquake occurred in Acts 16:26. We see that Paul had commanded a spirit to come out of a woman who was a fortune teller thereby releasing her from the bonds of wickedness. Her masters, who then lost their cash cow, took Paul and Silas before the magistrates who threw them in prison and beat them with rods. During the night, as they sat with stocks on their feet, in prison, singing praises to Yahweh, a great earthquake shook so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s bands were loosed and they were set free. This, of course, resulted in the prison guard becoming a believer in Yahshua and Yahweh. An interesting parallel verse in Isaiah 58:6-7 says Is not this the fast that I have chosen; to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?

A fourth earthquake happened in Acts 4: 29-31. This was at Shavuot when the Holy Spirit was given. Just prior to this, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them and charged them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Yahshua. But Peter and John answered and said to them, Whether it is right in the sight of Yahweh to listen to you rather than to Yahweh, you judge, for we cannot but speak the things which we saw and heard…..and all the men glorified Yahweh for that which was done. Acts verse 4:26 The kings of the earth set themselves in array and the rulers were gathered together against Yahweh and against His anointed…..in verse 4:31 we read and when they had prayed the place was shaken in which they were gathered together and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of Yahweh with boldness. Once again we see the earthquake as a prominent sign of Yahweh’s Sovereignty.

The first time an earthquake is mentioned in scripture is in Exodus 19:18 And mount 2022 Sinai 5514 was altogether on a smoke 6225, because 6440 834 Yahweh 3068 descended 3381 upon it in fire 784: and the smoke 6227 thereof ascended 5927 as the smoke 6227 of a furnace 3536, and the whole mount 2022 quaked 2729 greatly 3966.

2729 means: to tremble, quake, move about, be afraid, be startled, be terrified

To bring this into the current day we did some research on earthquakes. There have been aprox. 323 earthquakes of interest according to the USGS in the United States since aprox. 1727. There have been about 157 quakes of a magnitude of 6.0 or more in the muslim countries from 1138 to today. When we looked at the statistics for Israel on the USGS site, for the same time period, they had one loan earthquake (a 5.3) listed from 2-11-04. A news article from that day in Israel reads that a PA negotiator responded to Livni’s request for them to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, by saying, Go back to the 1947 partition and then we will talk……
We found another earthquake recorded for 2-11-07 (a 5.3 again) and the news from that day included an article with the headline: Fifteen Palestinians killed in Gaza clashes; Hamas vows revenge.…The lack of earthquakes in Israel was astounding to us, considering that neighboring Turkey had 37 and Iran had 30 just for example during the same time period. Loss of life in just Iran alone for that period totaled more than half a million people. We could find no record of even an injury from the two Israeli earthquakes.
Even in the supposed “world wide” earthquake reported for March 17th 2003, Israel was not even represented on a seismograph. (see World Wide Earthquake sheets).

This brings us to what we can expect in the coming years as far as earthquakes are concerned. In Matthew 24:7, Mark 13:8 and Luke 21:11, we read the familiar verses about Nation shall rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom and there shall be famines, and pestilences and earthquakes in divers places. I think we can see that this is starting to happen now.
One table shows the increase in earthquakes of a 6.99 or greater. From 1863 to 1900 there were 12. From 1901 to 1938 there were 53. From 1939 to 1976 there were 71 and the projected amount from 1977 to 2014 is aprox. 164. The table was initially written in 2006 and so far to date for the last projection there have been not 164 earthquakes so far for the criteria, but 190. The table will be updated in 2014, but it will be significantly higher than the original 164 predicted.

The book of Revelation lists 5 earthquakes. Rev. 6:12; 8:5, 11:13, 19, 16:18.
Rev. 6:12 is the opening of the sixth seal: And I saw when he opened the sixth seal and there was a great earthquake and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair and the whole moon became as blood and the stars of heaven fell to the earth as a fig tree casts her unripe figs when she is shaken of a great wind.
Here, once again we see darkness associated with the earthquake, just as at the crucifixion.
Rev. 8:5 This verse is about the opening of the 7th seal- And the angel took the censer and he filled it with the fire of the altar and cast it upon the earth and there followed thunders and voices and lightnings and an earthquake.
This sounds like a reenactment of Mt. Sinai’s events.

The next earthquake is Rev. 11:13. This one occurs after the two witnesses are resurrected. And they heard a great voice from heaven saying to them “Come up here” and they went up into heaven in the cloud and their enemies saw them. And in that hour there was a great earthquake and the tenth part of the city fell and there were killed in the earthquake seven thousand persons and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the Elohim of heaven.
This sounds like the earthquake after the resurrection of Yahshua, only men were not killed at that time, they were brought out of the grave and appeared to many. This time, some of the men who are in the area, will not be worthy of life, but death.

The next earthquake is in Rev. 11:19 after the 7th angel sounds. And there was opened the temple of Yahweh that is in heaven and there was seen in his temple the ark of his covenant and there followed lightnings and voices and thunders and an earthquake and great hail.
Again, it sounds like what took place on Mt. Sinai.

The last mention of an earthquake in Rev. is verse 16:18. After the seventh angel pours out his bowl of the wrath of Yahweh into the earth, a great voice comes out of the temple saying “It is Done” (reminiscent of “It is Finished” at the crucifixion): and there were lightnings and voices and thunders and there was a great earthquake Such As Was Not since there were men upon the earth, so Great an earthquake so mighty and the great city was divided into three parts and the cities of the nations fell and Babylon the great was remembered in the sight of Yahweh to give to her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. And every island fled away and the mountains were not found And great hail every stone about the weight of a talent, comes down out of heaven upon men.
A talent in NT times would have weighed about 130lbs.
It was approximately the mass of water required to fill an amphora.[1] A Greek, or Attic talent, was 26 kilograms (57 lb),[2] a Roman talent was 32.3 kilograms (71 lb), an Egyptian talent was 27 kilograms (60 lb),[2] and a Babylonian talent was 30.3 kilograms (67 lb).[3] Ancient Palestine adopted the Babylonian talent, but later revised the mass.[4] The heavy common talent, used in New Testament times, was 58.9 kilograms (130 lb).[4] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talent_%28measurement%29

So, obviously, we are not finished having earthquakes, as a matter of fact, the worst one is yet to come- far worse than the Indonesian and Japanese earthquakes. We believe Yahweh is trying to prepare us gradually for the things to come, while trying to get anyone who will, to repent, turn around and worship Him in Spirit and in Truth - forsaking the traditions of men. In Zechariyah we read that:
Zechariah 14:3-5 – “Then Yahweh will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle. And in that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley; half of the mountain shall move toward the north and half of it toward the south.” And you shall flee by the valley of my mountains for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azel; yes, you shall flee like as you fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah; and Yahweh my Elohim shall come and all the holy ones with you.
Zechariah 14:6-7 – “It shall come to pass in that day that there will be no light; the lights will diminish. It shall be one day, which is known to Yahweh. Neither day nor night. But at evening time it shall happen that it will be light. [Caution! Speculation ahead!! This could happen as the result of a polar shift- If it does, this may be the scenario as it plays out: you may notice a strange phenomenon. The sun as it slips down below the horizon begins to rise from the same horizon as though it were a new day.
Yes the sun is arising from the west and the earth has just experienced a complete physical pole reversal. We will literally be seeing what the prophet perceived in vision when he wrote these strange and mysterious words,

Zechariah 14:7 - “But at evening time it shall happen that it will be light.”

This planet earth with its magnetic pole to the North Pole will suddenly find its magnetic pole flipped over to the south. The current clockwise rotation of the earth on its magnetic pole rotates this planet downward to the east and the sun appears to be rising in the east. This event will be reversed. Suddenly the rotation of the earth will be going counter-clockwise. The earth will now rotate upward while facing the east and the sun will be setting in the east and rising in the west. However Yahweh makes it happen, What a day that will be!]

The good news is, that Revelation 14:12 says: Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of Yahweh, and the faith of Yahshua.
Paul tells us in Acts 20:24: But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of Yahshua the Messiah, to testify the gospel of the grace of Yahweh.
Let us end with words from Yahshua Himself, who said:
John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world!

New Year/Memorial Emblems/Passover/Feast of Unleavened Bread

New Year/Memorial Emblems/Passover/Feast of Unleavened Bread

This is the proposed schedule at this time for Yahweh’s first month~ The Abib. We follow the Jerusalem New Moon sighting, aviv Jerusalem Barley.

1. The 1st day of Yahweh's New Year is scheduled for the night of April 4th and the day of April 5th.

2. On the 10th day of Yahweh’s first month, you are to spiritually choose and examine “your lamb“, to see if it is worthy to be the Messiah~ don‘t just follow anyone who claims to be a Messiah, you must choose the One without blemish! This day falls on the night of April 13th and the day of April 14th, this year. This day is spiritually compared to the 10 days of Awe ending on the Day of Atonement, only during that time, WE examine ourselves to see if we are worthy of the Lamb.

3.On the night of April 17th on the secular calendar, we will be hosting The Taking of the Memorial Emblems. Any Baptized members may join us at our home at 6:00 for a meal and then afterward the foot washing and memorial emblems. Please bring a towel and basin.

4. We are observing the First High Day of The Feast of Unleavened Bread from the night of April 18th to the night of April 19th. So, if you will be observing this date, you should make arrangements to not be conducting any commerce during this time period. We will be meeting during the day on Tuesday, April 19th at 1:00pm in Little Buffalo State Park, the second entrance, the first parking lot on the right. There is a covered pavilion and bathrooms, near by if the ones there are not yet open.

5.The intervening days, except for Sabbath, are not mandated Sabbaths, so you may work on them.

6. The 24th of April is the Day of the waving of the Omer. It is not a High Day, but we will be “observing” this day in the morning by reading verses about the wave sheaf offering. You are welcome to join us at our home at 1:00pm. This day starts our 50 day count to Shavuot or Pentecost, the day the Holy Spirit was given.

7.The Last High Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread is Monday April 25th so no work should be done from the night of the 24th until the night of the 25th. We will be meeting again at 1:00pm at Little Buffalo State Park - same location.

8.The next High Day in conjunction with this Feast cycle (The Spring Feasts of Yahweh) is Shavuot or Pentecost. This falls on First day, June 12th, 2011 which is a sunday. We will be camping at the Paradise Stream Family Campground in Loysville, PA http://www.campparadisestream.com/

Due to Shavuot falling right after Sabbath, and we do no servile work on a Sabbath, we will be staying from the afternoon of Friday, June 10th, and paying until Monday, June 13th. We will tear down after the High Day is over though, on the 12th.

There are no more High Day Feasts until Fall, after Shavuot. We will contact you again with the dates if you indicate interest in participating.

It has been a while since we posted. In the winter we do "Scriptural Maintenance." Kind of like when farmers spend time repairing equipment and planning things for the spring, during the cold winter months when not much physical labor can be done outside. We are looking forward to Yahweh's New Year and the regrowth that comes with it, the fruitfulness and the hopefulness. Upcoming Aviv Search and Biblical Holidays

This year's Aviv Search will take place March 4th and 6th, the last two days of the 12th Biblical Month. The examination of the barley throughout the Land of Israel will determine whether the new biblical year will begin at sunset on March 6 or sunset on April 4. Here are the possible dates for Chag HaMatzot (Feast of Unleavened Bread) depending on whether or not the barley is Aviv by the end of the 12th Biblical Month:

*If we find Aviv by March 6, Chag HaMatzot will be March 20 at sunset through March 27 at sunset.

*If we don't find Aviv by March 6, Chag HaMatzot will be April 18 at sunset through April 25 at sunset.

Many people have asked me to predict whether or not we will find Aviv by March 6. The real answer is that I don't know. March 6 is early in the solar year but it is still possible. Israel has had little rain this year which could make the barley become Aviv later rather than earlier. The bottom line is there are too many factors to predict when the barley will ripen. It is largely dependent on weather which no one can predict past next week let alone a month from now. We will just have to "observe the Month of the Aviv" as Scripture commands (Dt 16:1).Nehemia Gordon Jerusalem, Israel

We will be meeting for the Feast of Trumpets at Little Buffalo State Park at 1pm,on Sabbath, September 11th at the 2nd entrance to the park, in the first parking lot on the right.

Shalom! While our family will be spending FOT in Maine (Yahweh willing), we will still be meeting over at Little Buffalo State Park for The Feast of Trumpets on 9-11-10 pending the new moon being seen in Israel. We will meet at 1pm at the second entrance to the park, the first parking lot on the right. Please bring a comfortable chair, water and a dish to share.

Shalom! This is our formal schedule for Shavuot in Liverpool, PA at the FerryBoat Campground. We will arrive at the campground on Friday after 3pm (we may not be there until after 5pm though) on May 21st for set up. On Sabbath May 22nd we will meet together in the pavillion on the left side in Defiance Court at 1pm for Services. Any head of household with a study or article or information to share may do so. Anyone who would like to offer a special offering of song, prayer, poem, testimony, etc. young or old, male or female may also do so. We will eat a corporate meal together for supper in the pavillion after services. We will meet again on 1st Day, May 23rd at 1:00pm in the pavillion for Services and the same information for Sabbath applies. About 3pm we will make our way on Rte 34 to the Juniata river, 23 Juniata Pkwy West for those who would like to be baptized in the Juniata on Shavuot. We have two people signed up at this time. Finding “The Way”
Just as the Torah is our road map for life, and Yahshua and the Holy Spirit are our compass with needle for our spiritual journey, we have a man made map and compass that help us navigate through Yahweh’s physical earth. Hopefully this map and compass course will teach you the practical skill of finding your physical way on Yahweh’s earth. A quote from a map and compass book reads:
Being in the right place at the prescribed time is necessary to successfully accomplish military missions. Direction plays an important role in a soldier's everyday life. It can be expressed as right, left, straight ahead, and so forth; but then the question arises, "To the right of what?" Obviously, for those of us here, our destination is to do Yahweh’s Will and be on the New Earth! We may already be headed in the correct direction, but have we been as diligent as we could be in teaching our friends, relatives and community at large and by extension, the people of the whole earth, in what direction they should go?
Hopefully this map and compass course will also give you the spiritual encouragement you need to either continue or to start out on that journey. Zech. 8:23: Thus saith Yahweh of hosts, “In those days ten men from all languages of the nations take hold, yea they shall take hold of the edge of the garment of a man, a Yehudite (if you take this word the whole way back to its origin, it means to bow down, or, by extension, those who bow down to Yahweh), saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that Elohim is with you” ’ ”…….“Let us go with you“…..Where? To Yahweh/Yahshua (The Way). (No one comes to the Father but by me) We will need to show them the Way….it must be a road we know and have traveled well, so that we can “show them The Way.” It MUST be the correct Way! We can not lead them down paths that do not lead to True North (Christianity and Judaism). It is our responsibility to know the RIGHT WAY.
What can we learn about following Yahweh from Orienteering? Let’s look at some definitions first.
Master Map: A map on which the controls of an Orienteering event are marked from which each orienteer marks his or her own map at the start. Our master map for finding Yahweh and knowing His mind, is obviously the Torah. We should be marking our journey toward communion with Yahweh from the instructions in the Torah.
Compass: Instrument for determining directions with the help of a strip of magnetized steel swinging on a pivot.
Orienteering: The skill or process of finding your way with map and compass. This could be compared to Yahshua and the Holy Spirit. Yahweh sent His son down here to be our guide to the Torah….to tell us how to rightly divide the Word. He then gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit to be with us daily, after His Son ascended into heaven. He did not leave us without a help.
Orientation: The process of determining one’s location in the field with the help of landscape features, map or compass or with all three combined. As we live our life each day, do we make sure we use the tools the Father gave us determine our location in relation to where He wants us to be on our spiritual walk?
Bearing: Originally the nautical term for the direction of an object from the ship. During our busy daily lives, we should always take time out to get our bearings, to make sure we are headed in the right spiritual direction.
Contouring: The method of traveling around an obstacle, by keeping at the same elevation. When, during the course of our daily lives, we come to an obstacle to our spiritual journey, we should strive to stay at the same elevation we have achieved so far, not backsliding or getting bogged down in the obstacle. We need to travel around the obstacle using the advice of the Torah, the example of Yahshua- for He did face His own obstacles, especially in the wilderness, as a witness to us that we can overcome them, and the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
Declination: the angle between the direction of the compass needle points and the true-north line; the difference in degrees between magnetic north direction and true north direction in any given locality.
Direction: The relative location of one landscape feature to another. If we should find ourselves still generally moving the direction of Yahweh, but getting caught up in something that is Takanot (tradition that is harmful to our spiritual walk, not tradition that there is no law against) or pagan practices that we become aware of as not being pleasing to Yahweh, then we need to adjust our heading with a correction to get us back on the track of True North, or Yahweh’s true intentions for the issue we are facing. This will of necessity consist of rechecking the tools Yahweh gave us to help us find our way to Him…The Torah, Yahshua and The Holy Spirit.
Base Lines: Grid North, Magnetic North, True North.
We could use the example of Yahweh being True North, Christianity being Magnetic North needing a negative declination and Judaism being Magnetic North needing a positive declination. Each system needs to take a “correction” to either the right or the left to line up with Yahweh’s True North. Does each man made system sort of face North? Yes, but the directions in both cases are off the mark. If you walk in the direction of Yahweh using the wrong system, you will not have the correct heading to hit the mark….you will miss the mark and can end up miles away from your final destination. When you reach where you think you need to be, you will find that Yahweh isn’t there. You need to get back on the straight and narrow, Grid North, to find True North. You must re-plot your course and move over to where Yahweh Really is…..not go your own way, without correction. Just as with map and compass reading, you need to periodically check your data to see if you are still heading in the correct direction, so too we must constantly compare ourselves to the Torah to make sure we are still heading toward Yahweh. If we find we have veered off the Torah path, we must make a correction, find the new (or re-newed) heading once again and get back on the correct path.
Magnetic North: The direction to which the compass needle points. This could be likened to the magnetic qualities of man made direction to Yahweh. It may lead “Toward” Yahweh, but not directly to Him. We need to be sure that we make corrections to our spiritual path toward Yahweh based on the tools He gave us, not the ones man designates.
True North: Where North really is. Spiritually speaking, this is the direction Yahweh is really in.
Landmark: A Feature in the landscape which can be readily recognized- anything from a prominent tree, or rock to a “church” or a lake. Our landmark is the Rock….or Yahshua. He is the terrain feature we would most like to be associated with.
Azimuth: is the angle from a reference vector in a reference plane to a second vector in the same plane, pointing toward, (but not necessarily meeting), something of interest. For example, with the sea as your reference plane, the azimuth of the Sun might be the angle between due North and the point on the horizon the Sun is currently over. An imaginary line drawn along the surface of the sea might point in the direction of the Sun, but would obviously never meet it.
Azimuth is usually measured in degrees (°). The concept is used in many practical applications including navigation astronomy, mapping, mining and artillery. The word azimuth is derived from the Arabic word السمت ('as-simt'), which means direction, referring to the ways or directions a person faces.
This is self explanatory…..the “Point of Interest” we would like to reach is Yahweh. Unlike the example cited,of the “sun”, we can reach Yahweh if we follow His Torah and His Son and the Holy Spirit.
INTERSECTION: Intersection is the location of an unknown point by successively occupying at least two (preferably three) known positions on the ground and then map sighting on the unknown location. It is used to locate distant or inaccessible points or objects such as enemy targets and danger areas. There are two methods of intersection: the map and compass method and the straightedge method
How intersection could relate to our walk toward Yahweh: When two people marry and become one, they are still two distinct people, or points, walking toward Yahweh. What will ideally happen, will be that the two people will both shoot an azimuth toward Yahweh and compare their data and head off in that direction using their combined data, as it relates to the Torah instructions and the guiding of Yahshua’s example, Yahshua and the Holy Spirit. Both people in the marriage must set their sites, compare them with the heading they get to Yahweh’s true north and then, the ideal is for their individual readings to be used to propel them both toward Yahweh on a Grid North path. In that way, their union will stay harmonious as they both strive to reach the same destination, together, using the Torah and the Holy spirit as their map and compass. The third point is introduced when the two that became one, have a “replication” or child. You need to incorporate the points you add to your family, in on the directional finding task. Fathers need to constantly check, not only their own headings or bearings but that of their wives and children, to make sure the family as a whole is heading in an accurate direction!
Resection: Locate your own position. Fathers, (and future fathers) this is a primary duty to Yahweh and your family. You should know your own position and how it relates to where Yahweh directs that we should be. You can do this by using the tools He gave you of the Torah, Yahshua and the Holy Spirit.
Polar Coordinates: plot an unknown position from a known point. We know where we are, do we KNOW where Yahweh is? Again, we must constantly check our guide tools.
Back Azimuth: A back azimuth is the opposite direction of an azimuth. It is comparable to doing "about face." To obtain a back azimuth from an azimuth, add 180 degrees if the azimuth is 180 degrees or less, or subtract 180 degrees if the azimuth is 180 degrees or more. The back azimuth of 180 degrees may be stated as 0 degrees or 360 degrees.
WARNING
When converting azimuths into back azimuths, extreme care should be exercised when adding or subtracting the 180 degrees. A simple mathematical mistake could cause disastrous consequences.
Deut 4:2: Do not add to the word which I command you and do not take away from it, so as to guard the commands of Yahweh your Elohim which I am commanding you.
WARNING
When measuring azimuths on a map, remember that you are measuring from a starting point to an ending point. If a mistake is made and the reading is taken from the ending point, the grid azimuth will be opposite, thus causing the user to go in the wrong direction.
2Timothy 2:15” …..rightly dividing the Word of Truth…..
This situation could be allegorically compared to “Back sliding.” When we lose the ground we have gained, when we back slide so to speak, we need to go back to where we lost the trail. In doing a back azimuth, as in redirecting our path, we must be careful not to over compensate or under compensate for our mistake(s). We must get back to where we need to be precisely.
What does it mean when we say that someone has done a “180”? It means that they have quite literally turned their life around. Not a full circle,360 degrees, back to where they started to go wrong, but a half circle,180 degrees or, an “about face” so that they now are facing, once again, in the direction they need to be going in.
Off Set: A deliberate offset is a planned magnetic deviation to the right or left of an azimuth to an objective. Use it when the objective is located along or in the vicinity of a linear feature such as a road or stream. Because of errors in the compass or in map reading, the linear feature may be reached without knowing whether the objective lies to the right or left. A deliberate offset by a known number of degrees in a known direction compensates for possible errors and ensures that upon reaching the linear feature, the user knows whether to go right or left to reach the objective. Ten degrees is an adequate offset for most tactical uses. Each degree offset moves the course about 18 meters to the right or left for each 1,000 meters traveled. For example, if the number of degrees offset is 10 and if the distance traveled to "x" in 1,000 meters, then "x" is located about 180 meters to the right of the objective. As a spiritual analogy, we can use the aid of the Holy Spirit when an issue we are facing has no direct answer in the Torah. We can “make an adjustment” to our course if we are flexible and willing to be still and listen. Then we may get an answer of whether to go to the right or to the left to reach our objective.
Be Expert with Map and Compass
In closing, one of the best ways to learn and become proficient in any subject is to find a way to make it enjoyable and relevant. That's exactly what orienteering does! Orienteering began to develop almost 100 years ago in the Scandinavian countries as an enjoyable- (delightful) and effective method for military training in land navigation.
The Bible tells us the Torah is a delight, defined as something you take great pleasure and joy in.
Psalm 40:8: I delight to do thy will…
Isaiah 58:13: Call the Sabbath a delight…
Romans 7:22 For I delight in the law (Torah) of Elohim according to the inward man…
So, on that note, as we strive to make map and compass reading enjoyable for not only the children, but ourselves as well, let us also make the general following of Yahweh a delight for our children, our wives- our families, the world and ourselves. Let’s go forth and find our Way!

Due to it falling right after Sabbath, and we do no servile work on a Sabbath, we will be staying from the afternoon of Friday May 21st, and paying until Monday May 24th. We will tear down after the High Day is over though, on the 23rd. There are no more High Day Feasts until Fall after Shavuot. Responsibilities in order to keep The Passover/Feast of Unleavened Bread
This is the schedule for Yahweh’s first month~ The Abib.
Please note that you should be looking for and throwing out any leaven (yeast,baking soda & baking powder) you have in your house(and most importantly yourself- which is, anything that puffs up, pride, sin, etc.) March 30th if you are taking the Memorial Emblems, or The First High Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread if you are not baptised yet.
1. The aviv search in Israel will be conducted on March 16th and 17th on your secular calendar. The barley IS Aviv! The new moon has been sighted on the night of March 17th on your secular calendar! The night of the 17th and the day of the 18th are New Moon Day.
2. On the 10th day of Yahweh’s first month, you are to spiritually choose and examine “your lamb“, to see if it is worthy to be the Messiah~ don‘t just follow anyone who claims to be a Messiah, you must choose the One without blemish! This day happens to fall on Sabbath, March 27th this year. This day is spiritually compared to the 10 days of Awe ending on the Day of Atonement, only during that time, WE examine ourselves to see if we are worthy of the Lamb.
3.On the night of March 30th on the secular calendar, we will be hosting The Taking of the Memorial Emblems. Since Yahshua WAS the Passover Lamb, He would not be alive on the Leviticus 23 Passover, He would be in the earth for 3 days and 3 nights, just as Jonah was in the belly of the big fish. So, on this night, we will be observing the taking of the Memorial Emblems (Unleavened bread and wine or grape juice) and The Foot washing, as Yahshua demonstrated for us.
4. The First High Day of The Feast of Unleavened Bread starts on the night of the 14th day of Yahweh’s month, which is March 31st, and ends at night on April 1st. So, if you will be observing this Feast, you should make arrangements to not be conducting any commerce/work during this time period. We will be meeting during the day on Thursday, April 1st at 1:00pm in Newport, at Little Buffalo State Park.
5.The intervening days, except for Sabbath, are not mandated Sabbaths, so you may work on them.
6. The 4th of April is the Day of the waving of the Omer and signifies the first fruits of Yahweh being presented to Him, including His Son and probably those who arose with Him during the earthquake and walked around. It is not a High Day, but we will be “observing” this day in the morning by reading verses about the wave sheaf offering. This day starts our 50 day count to Shavuot or Pentecost, the day the Holy Spirit was given. A good day to be Baptized!
7.The Last High Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread is Wed. April 7th so no work should be done from the night of the 6th until the night of the 7th. We will be meeting again at 1:00pm in Newport at Little Buffalo State Park.

When is the first day of the first month of the year?

When is the first day of the first month of the year?
The only answer to the question we care about is Yahweh's answer. The following explains His answer to this question.
King James Bible Exodus 12:1-2And YAHWEH spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying,
This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Which month?
King James Bible Exodus 11:10And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and Yahweh hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land.
It was the time they were let out of Egypt. The time in which they kept the Passover. We also get a clue when we are told about the hail storm plague.
Nehemiah Gordon tells us the following:
Abib indicates a stage in the development of the barley crops. This is clear from Ex 9:31-32 which describes the devastation caused by the plague of hail:
"And the flax and the barley were smitten, because the barley was Abib and the flax was Giv'ol. And the wheat and the spelt were not smitten because they were dark (Afilot)."
The above passage relates that the barley crops were destroyed by the hail while the wheat and spelt were not damaged.
We are commanded in Ex 23:15
"You will keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread; seven days you will eat unleavened bread, as I have commanded you, at the time of the month of the Abib, because in it you went out of Egypt."

The second way we figure out if it is the first day of the first month of Yahweh’s year is, we need to look for the new moon also.
The period between one year and the next is either 12 or 13 lunar months, so we must know the season and what to look for, but it is simple enough that a child can do it! No complicated mathematical calculations must be made, or scientific experimentation done, but a simple “look and see” approach is given by Yahweh.
So, to simplify it: The new year begins with the first New Moon after the barley in Israel reaches the stage in its ripeness called Abib.
Yahweh has made it possible, through the use of telephones, texting and the internet, so that we here in America, in these latter days, can know almost in the same instant that Israel knows, whether the barley is Aviv or not!

Happy New Year~ Really?

Not on January 1st in the dead of winter. According to the Bible, the new year is to be observed in the spring of the year,(when life starts to spring forth in newness and productivity!) specifically in the month of Abib (Exodus 12:2, 13:4). The barley is ready for harvest and the new moon has been sighted. Genesis 1:14 tells us that The Creator put the lights in the firmament of the heaven....for signs and for seasons and for days and years. We will wait until the spring and for Yahweh to confirm it, to wish everyone a Happy New Year! It would be a very happy new year if more people would simply go seek out what the Father would like for them to do.....How then shall we live? The Bible tells us!

Only 4 more days, or, about 96 more hours and another year of having to explain why we don't want to have a merry christ's mass will be over.......and it isn't because we don't think this nation was founded as a quote-unquote christian nation.....so many people are foot stompin mad about the whole "Happy Holidays" thing and they are scripturally on slippery footing in the very first place.....what a mess........Even if we reply that we observe Hanukkah which is found in John 10:22, it still doesn't address the fact that Yahshua's birth did not take place on Dec. 25th! They can avoid a debate or even an influx of knowledge by only having 2 seconds to wish someone something that is not scripturally acceptable, and it would take at least 5 minutes to only briefly explain why.......not everyone who doesn't want to have a merry christmas is an anti-messiah!

H-Ween.....Should Believers Participate?

Should a person who professes to worship the Creator participate in Halloween? In the Bible, we are commanded not to become involved with the unfruitful works of darkness (Eph. 5-11).
Yahweh tells us very clearly nine things that He hates. "When thou art come into the land which Yahweh thy Elohim giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto Yahweh: and because of these abominations Yahweh thy Elohim doth drive them out from before thee. Thou shalt be perfect with Yahweh thy Elohim (Deuteronomy 18:9-13). We don't know about you, but we are pretty sure that we wouldn't be perfect with Yahweh if we kept Halloween.....Now, you might be thinking....Perfect...just what does "perfect" mean? We think that some people may have a distorted conception of what perfect means in the Bible. That it is some unattainable condition that only Yahshua(Jesus) could attain. We do not think that is true. Yes, certainly, Yahshua was perfect in His perfection, but if you look at the definition in Strong's of perfection, of what Yahweh is looking for, we hope you will see that you can obtain perfection in His sight by simply following His instructions! He is not an un-pleasable task master by any means. He just wants our obedience from love for Him. (Jerimiah 7:21-23 In this manner says Yahweh of hosts the Elohim of Israel: Add your burnt offering to your sacrifices and eat flesh. For I spoke not to your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt-offerings or sacrifices: but this thing I commanded them, saying, Listen to my voice (the Torah) and I will be your Elohim and you shall be my people; and walk in all the way that I command you (the Torah) that it may be well with you.) And again: 1 Samuel 15:22 "And Samuel said, Hath Yahweh as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of Yahweh? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams." And again: Isaiah 1 11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith Yahweh: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. 16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
So, obey, obey what? Obey His instructions, the Torah! What is evil? Doing things he tells you not to in the Torah!
If you have ever been a parent, or a child of a parent, you have had experience with this concept. Parents would like their children to obey them out of love, knowing that the parent only wants what is best for the child at all times. Children of those parents have had to deal with learning that to behave, or follow the parents instructions, is for their own good. (Obviously we are talking about a normal, healthy relationship between a parent and a child, which is the only type of relationship Yahweh has with us.)
In Strong's Concordance"Perfection" is # 8549 in this case and it says, "Entire, integrity, truth, without blemish, complete, full, perfect, sincerely, sincerity, sound without spot, undefiled, upright, uprightly, whole." It is from 8552 which says "a primary root, to complete,in a good or a bad sense, accomplish, cease, be clean, consume have done, come to an have an make an end, fail, come to the full be all gone, be all here, be (make) perfect, be spent, sum be (shew self) upright, be wasted, whole. So, obviously if the root word shows the negative(bad) and positive(good) and # 8549 represents the positive(good) aspects of the root word, we can see that He wants us to behave with integrity, truth, no blemish, without spot, to be clean, etc. and that keeping Halloween would not put us in that category of being "perfect" before Yahweh.

Feast Site in Liverpool, PA Ferry Boat Campground

A Feast Site is being coordinated in Liverpool PA at the Ferry Boat Campground on Rtes 11/15 For October 5th thru the 12th, starting at sundown on the 4th and ending at sundown on the 12th.
The Jerusalem sighting for the Feast is projected for October 5th - 12th. We will be setting up an 18x30foot meeting tent with a stove jack for corporate use with a 10x10kitchen addition that will have a propane grill stove inside.
This being Yahweh's Feast, it will be organized and coordinated by the Heads of Household. All situations and any problems will also be addressed by the Heads of House. No one person will be "in charge or control" of this Feast. Our family is only doing what is necessary to "basically" prepare for the keeping of the Feast at this site. There will be an organizational meeting 1st day evening (sun.), after set up, with a sign up sheet for speakers, events, etc.
The general meeting area will be in the primitive tent site area. Everyone is to make their own reservations at the campground, and be responsible for their own food, water, families, etc. If we have corporate meals, they will be "bring a dish" style, unless people volunteer to organize a group dinner. Please bring your own chairs for the meeting tent. Our family will only be supplying 4 tables, so if you have one you can bring, that would be appreciated.
This is a personal responsibility Feast.

We can take a debate about Blue Cheese as to whether or not mold is a kosher thing to eat or not, (lots of people are divided on that point). But when someone states unequivocally that there is no blue cheese made with vegetable or cow rennet, that is just simply not true.

Do not seethe a kid it its mother's milk.........Exodus 23:19, Exodus 34:26 and Deut. 14:21........
What does it really mean? What is the spiritual significance? Hmmmm.
Since we do not believe it means the complicated scenario of ending up not eating any meat with any dairy and having lots of sinks and stoves and dishes, etc......where did that leave us?
We have goats, eleven of them to be precise. They were a kind of biblical object lesson when it started out, in addition to a home school project and responsibility builder. We wanted to know why the goat got the short end of the staff so to speak, in the Bible. Now we know.... Basically, they are always trying to get out of the pen....always "jumping out of the Torah fences" so to speak. Always trying to get away from the "protected place" we made for them. Anyway, back to the verse.
Kid in Strong's is 5795: A she goat, goats hair, she goat, kid.
Seethe is 1310: To boil up, be done, to ripen
Milk is 2461: to be fat - milk- the richest or choice part of kine (kine means the plural of cow from a long time ago)
Mother's is 517: As the bond of the family, dam, mother, X parting (which means it is from a Hebrew idiom, only trouble is, we don't know what the idiom is.....)

So, that didn't do much for the verse but make it look weird: In essence that reduced it to something resembling "Do not ripen a she goat in the bond of the family's cow's richest part"....... lol.... So, we looked at context instead. The verse was always right in the middle of the dietary instructions and the Feast instructions.
With a little more research we found this quote:

From the Ugaritic literature, it is now known that a Cannanite ritual included just such a thing, i.e., boiling a kid in milk. From the tablet entitled “The gods pleasant and beautiful,” line 1 4 reads: “boil a kid in milk, a lamb in butter.” Cassuto also notes (Exodus Commentary) that this is still the practice among Bedouins to this day.

So, since we read in Deut. 14:21: Do not eat whatever dies of itself. Give it to the stranger who is within your gates, to eat it, or sell it to a foreigner. For you are a set-apart people to Yahweh your Elohim. Do not cook a young goat in its mother's milk.
This would indicate to us that the reason for not cooking a goat in its mother's milk is to keep us separated from pagan practices. There should be no disregard for life and inhumane practices connected with the worship of Yahweh.

A friend of ours emailed this list to us today. It made us think of the Sabbatical Year, and The Feast of Tabernacles. Actually, we have our tents set up right this minute for the Feast of Unleavened Bread...If one prepares for the Sabbatical year, it seems it may just come in handy someday;we believe by Yahweh's design. Of course, we think ALL His instructions are valuable! What a gift, what a blessing they are! If you keep the Feast of Tabernacles, chances are you already have most of the things on this list! From a Sarajevo War Survivor:Experiencing horrible things that can happen in a war - death of parents andfriends, hunger and malnutrition, endless freezing cold, fear, sniper attacks.
1. Stockpiling helps. but you never no how long trouble will last, so locate near renewable food sources.
2. Living near a well with a manual pump is like being in Eden.
3. After awhile, even gold can lose its luster. But there is no luxury in war quite like toilet paper. Its surplus value is greater than gold's.
4. If you had to go without one utility, lose electricity - it's theeasiest to do without (unless you're in a very nice climate with no need forheat.)
5. Canned foods are awesome, especially if their contents are tasty without heating. One of the best things to stockpile is canned gravy - it makes a lot of the dry unappetizing things you find to eat in war somewhat edible. Only needs enough heat to "warm", not to cook. It's cheap too,especially if you buy it in bulk.
6. Bring some books - escapist ones like romance or mysteries become more valuable as the war continues. Sure, it's great to have a lot ofsurvival guides, but you'll figure most of that out on your own anyway - trust me, you'll have a lot of time on your hands.
7. The feeling that you're human can fade pretty fast. I can't tell you how many people I knew who would have traded a much needed meal for just a little bit of toothpaste, rouge, soap or cologne. Not much point in fighting if you have to lose your humanity. These things are morale-builders like nothing else.

Malchus' Ear

Did you see the Mel Gibson movie The Passion? We will focus on just one part we found scripturally deviant for right now. During the “ear removal” scene, they did not do justice to the text and they lost an opportunity to “get it right”…..In the movie, Yahshua told Peter two or three times to “drop the knife”…..we know Yahshua really told him (in John 18:11) to “return it to his sheath“ (it being a sword, not a knife)….So, why does this make a difference? Because you can’t tell the Bible what you want it to say, or to change it, to say what you “think” it is saying. When Mr. Gibson allowed this, we believe his intention was good, and we believe he was trying to show Yahshua wanted “peace, not war” so to speak….but we believe there was significantly more to it than that. The man’s ear that Peter cut off was the High Priest’s servant. (His “representative” so to speak), when Peter cut his ear off, we think it represented that the High Priest had “No ear to hear”. (Luke 22:51)Yahshua then restored it to the man. We think that He did that because he was not the High Priest, only his representative, and of course, they couldn’t waltz into the Temple and shed the High Priests’ blood inside like that, so this act and restoration fit the bill. Then Yahshua told Peter to put the sword back in its sheath, not, “to drop it”. This particular wording can be traced back to Chapter 21 in Ezekiel.
The servant’s name was Malchus and in Hebrew the name means- King, to reign, ascend the throne, to induct into royalty to take counsel begin to make to reign, rule surely. We think that this means that there in the garden, the stage was being set to physically show the transfer of the authority of the earthly High Priest at the time, to Yahshua, the Real High Priest. When Yahshua said to Peter then, “put your sword back in its sheath, shall I not drink from this cup?” He was in effect saying, yes, you know that is what it says in Ezekiel, but now, some things will be changed by my death. Yahshua did not come at that time to conquer and reign on earth. Peter was “jumping the gun” so to speak. Yahshua was there to be the “suffering servant” at that time.
We were disappointed Mr. Gibson did not stick to the text in certain places. Yes, we realize he was taking artistic license most of the time, but when dealing with the words of the Bible, we believe one can not be too careful. This study is by no means exhaustive, obviously, and we have a lot more to study about it, especially the book of Ezekiel where the “return the sword to its sheath” verse originates. But, we wanted to post it as food for thought! See what you learn when you re read that verse, you may notice something else that we haven’t yet!

Sunday April 12, 2009 is יוֹם הֲנָפַת הָעֹמֶר Yom Hanafat Ha'omer (Day of the Waving of the Sheaf). When the Temple stood, this day marked the official commencement of the grain harvest (Dt 16:7) and sheaves of barley were cut and brought to the Temple as a wave-offering (Lev 23:9-14). This day also marks the beginning of the 50-day count to חַג הַשָּׁבֻעוֹת‏ Shavuot (Pentecost; Feast of Weeks). Yom Hanafat Ha'omer is counted as Day 1 and Shavuot as Day 50.

Did a "cock" really "crow"?

A common problem that exists in our English Bibles is mistranslation of the original text. Sometimes this seems to be the direct result of translators who were attempting to remove all hint of ‘Jewishness’ from the New Covenant (Testament) in order to support their particular theology. Other times it appears to be caused by ignorance of the Hebrew idioms or expressions. A classic example of the latter can be found in the story concerning Peter’s denial of Y’shua on the night of the Covenant Meal (Last Supper):“And the Lord said, ‘Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren’. But he said to Him, ‘Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death’. Then He said, ‘I tell you, Peter, the rooster (’cock’ in KJV) will not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me’”. (Luke 22:31-34)
Later that night the Temple Guards arrested Y’shua and took Him to the house of the High Priest. There Simon Peter was allowed admission to the courtyard in view of where they were questioning Y’shua:
“And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire, looked intently at him and said, ‘This man was also with Him’. But he denied Him, saying, ‘Woman, I do not know Him’. And after a little while another saw him and said, ‘You also are of them’. But Peter said, ‘Man, I am not!’ Then after about an hour had passed, another confidently affirmed saying, ‘Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a Galilean’. But Peter said, ‘Man, I do not know what you are saying!’ And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster (cock) crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, ‘Before the rooster (cock) crows, you will deny Me three times. Then Peter went out and wept bitterly”. (Luke 22:56-62)
This is one of the more famous stories in the Gospel accounts; repeated in both Matthew and Mark as well. However, there is one problem with the translation; chickens were not allowed in Jerusalem during Temple times. The reason for this prohibition was because chickens are very dirty birds and they have the obnoxious habit of finding their way into places where they do not belong. Therefore, to assure that chickens could not gain access to the Temple and desecrate the Holy Place or, worse yet, the Holy of Holies, the Priests simply forbids everyone in Jerusalem from having chickens.
So, what about this famous passage of Scripture? It clearly says in the New King James Version, just quoted, that a ‘rooster’ crowed and it was heard in the courtyard of the palace of the High Priest.
The proper translation is really quite evident when the practices of that time are understood. The ‘rooster’ or ‘cock’ that Peter and Y’shua heard was not a bird at all, but a man. That man was a priest at the Temple. He was the one who had the responsibility of unlocking the Temple doors each and every morning before dawn. Every night this priest would lock the doors to the Temple and place the key in an opening in the floor of one of the Temple side rooms. Then he would place a flat stone over the opening and place his sleeping mat over the stone. He would literally sleep over the key to the Temple. In the morning this priest would arise at first light and retrieve the key. He would then proceed to unlock the doors to the Temple and cry out three statements in a loud voice: “All the cohanim (priests) prepare to sacrifice”. “All the Leviim (Levites) to their stations”. “All the Israelites come to worship”. Then he would repeat these statements two more times.
The priest in question was known as the Temple Crier, and he was called ‘alektor’ in Greek, which can either be a ‘cock’ or ‘man’ (cock is Gever in Hebrew). ‘Alektor’ here was incorrectly assumed to be the ‘cock’ or ‘rooster’ instead of the Priestly Temple Crier. It was his obligation to rouse all the Priests, Levites, and worshippers and call them to begin their preparations for the morning sacrifice service. In the stillness of the early morning, sound carries well and since the palace of the High Priest was within a very short walk from the Temple, it was the Temple Crier’s cry that was heard in the courtyard where Y’shua was being questioned and not the cock/rooster. Josephus, the historian, confirms this by stating that no chickens were allowed inside Jerusalem’s walls at all as they flew into the Temple and defiled the Temple.
While this example does not change the meaning of the event (that Peter would deny Y’shua despite his bravado earlier in the evening), it does serve to illustrate how English reading Bible students as well as other languages have been shortchanged in their understanding of some of the events as they actually took place. Also, by knowing the true facts about the Gever one’s attention becomes focused on the fact that Y’shua, the Son of God, was being questioned while standing within earshot of His Father’s House (the Temple).

Chocolate Caramel Matzo ~ Yum

Since we are in the kitchen cooking, here is a short recipe for today. We will be taking the Memorial Emblems tonight and doing the Footwashing. Yahweh Bless!

Chocolate Caramel Matzo
4 to 5 pieces of matzo
1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup chopped bittersweet chocolate, or semi-sweet chocolate chips (I use milk chocolate)
Toppings (pistachios, a little rock salt, etc.)
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil
Place the matzo in one layer on the baking sheet. Set aside.
In a large sauce pan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly. Once the mixture reaches a boil, continue to cook for an additional three minutes, still stirring, until thickened and just starting to pull away from the sides of the pan. Remove from heat and pour over the matzo, spreading an even layer with a heat-proof spatula.
Put the pan in the oven, and turn the heat down to 350 degrees. Bake for 15 minutes, watching to make sure it doesn't burn. If it looks like it is starting to burn, turn heat down to 325.
After 15 minutes, the toffee should have bubbled up and turned a rich golden brown. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate over the pan. Let sit for five minutes, then spread the now-melted chocolate evenly with a spatula.
At this point you can add toppings while the chocolate is still melted.
Let cool completely, then break into smaller pieces and store in an airtight container.

Examining the Sheep

This morning, at our house, we gave each of our youngest children the opportunity to "choose a lamb" and to take care of it until the 14th day of Yahweh's month. Every year on the 10th day of Yahweh's 1st month, we let the children pick from some stuffed lambs. They find a box to keep them in and "give them food and water" in their rooms. We read Exodus 12:3 and I Peter 1:19 and discuss how important it is to choose the right lamb and to examine it for "blemishes."
Now, on the 14th day of Yahweh's month, at about 3pm, we will take back their lambs and put them up until next year, when we will rehearse this again, and again, until the Messiah returns.
We hope you will join us in picking Yahshua as your lamb.

New Year's Eve

Last night we took the opportunity to go into the town square of Newport and blow our shofars and witness to our own community that it was the beginning of Yahweh's New Year. During the day, while shopping for Preparation Day in the square with my daughter, I took the opportunity to wish everyone we came in contact with, "Blessed New Year!" which resulted in conversations about why the card store had no cards for Passover and when the local churches were having their second annual Passover seder, etc.
Let us encourage one another to keep the light shining, wherever we are!
May Yahweh grant us all a beautiful, green, fruitful year, full of spiritual growth!

Here is a recipe that would be fun and instructional for the children:

Yahweh’s New Year is tomorrow! Here is a nice recipe for observing Yahweh’s New Year! I would use light green food coloring to tint.
Barley Candy
2 Tablespoons of pearl barley. 5 cups water.
Zest and juice of 1/2 lemon, 2-2/3 cups sugar.
Pinch of cream of tartar. Lightly oil baking sheet.
Put the pearl barley in a saucepan with 1-1/4 cups
of the cold water and bring to a boil.
Drain and rinse under cold running water.
Put the barley back in the pan with the remaining
cold water and the lemon rind. Bring to a boil again,
cover and simmer about 2 hours. Strain the barley
liquid into a measuring cup and add the lemon juice
and enough cold water to make 2 -1/2 cups.
Put the sugar, cream of tartar and barley water
in a large heavy saucepan and heat gently until
the sugar is dissolved, stirring continuously.
Bring to a boil and boil to 290 degrees.
Remove the pan from the heat and quickly pour
the syrup onto the prepared baking sheet.
Tilt the sheet to spread it evenly. Leave to cool a little.
As soon as the barley sugar is firm enough to
handle, cut it into strips with scissors and twist
each strip. Place on a board to finish cooling.
The outside cools quicker than the middle, so
work from both sides toward the middle, not
straight from one side to the other. Wrap in twists
of clear wrap and store in a glass jar with an airtight stopper.

Karaite Korner Newsletter #373Aviv Found! On Thursday March 26, 2009 we found Aviv Barley in two fields in the Jordan Valley, several kilometers south of Beth Shean. Samplings from these plots of barley were between 70% and 90% Aviv or beyond. Much of the barley we found had ripened past the stage of Aviv. Based on this there will definitely be sufficient quantities of barley that will be harvest-ready in two weeks time. Therefore, the upcoming new moon this Friday night will begin the Month of the Aviv and the new biblical year. Chag HaMatzot (the Feast of Unleavened Bread) will begin on April 10 at sunset and continue until April 17 at sunset. In reflecting on how our Savior died, we were wondering something...would things be different if He had died in the electric chair? Would the title of a famous song, "The Old Rugged Cross" be quite so appealing if it were instead, "The Old Rugged Electric Chair"? How about jewelry, would one be tempted to wear a sterling silver electric chair round one's neck, instead of a cross? We had to revisit customs or "traditions" that we did surrounding our beliefs and thoroughly examine them against the Scriptures. We ended up throwing out a lot of traditions that suddenly made no sense to us. We had heard an old joke that sort of summed up how we came to keep these things in the first place, cuz we sure hadn't gotten them from the Scriptures.
The joke goes like this: Husband sees wife preparing a roast for dinner and observes her cutting off the end to discard it. Husband knows that meat costs money and asks wife why she has done this thing. Her response is "My mother always did it." Husband wants to know "why" her mother did it. Wife calls mother and asks. Mother indicates that her mother always did it, so she should call her grandmother to find out why. Wife calls grandmother and asks why she always cut off the end of the roast. Grandmother's reply: "Because it wouldn't fit in the pan I had!"....... In short, we have been handed down some "traditions" that have nothing to do with how we should be worshipping Yahweh, how He wants to be worshipped. There is a verse that says: Jeremiah 16:19 Yahweh, my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of affliction, to you shall the nations come from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, even vanity and things in which there is no profit.

The “Age of Accountability”
In the Bible
Until what age should we continue to train up our children in the way they should go? When are we, as parents, released from this particular intensive duty? Certainly we should always be available to offer advice and support to our grown children, but at what age do our children cease to be children, and become accountable to Yahweh for their own lives and choices? Let us look to the Bible for the answer.
It is often stated in theological discussion, that the Bible does not speak of, nor define, nor even address, an “Age of Accountability” anywhere. Let us examine this position.
First, let us take a look at the definition of accountability in The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition Copyright 2000 by Houghton Mifflin Company.

Liable to being called to account; answerable. See Synonyms at responsible.
That can be explained: and accountable phenomenon.
In the Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary Copyright 1996,1998 MICRA, Inc. it states:
Ac*count’a*bil”i*ty, n. The state of being accountable’liability to be called on to render an account’ accountableness. “The awful idea of accountability.”--R. Hall.
WordNet (registered) 1.6 copyright 1997 Princeton University lists: Accountability, n.: responsibility to someone or for some activity [syn: answerability, answerableness]
The Bible states, in Matthew 12:36,“ But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
The question is, at what age do we become responsible in this manner to Yahweh for our conduct? When we look in the Torah, we find some interesting instructions directed at a specific group of people. In Leviticus 27:1-4 in the KJV Bible translation (Sacred Names have been inserted) we read:
1 And Yahweh spake unto Moses, saying,2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When a man shall make a singular vow, the persons shall be for Yahweh by thy estimation.3 And thy estimation shall be of the male from twenty years old even unto sixty years old, even thy estimation shall be fifty shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary.4 And if it be a female, then thy estimation shall be thirty shekels.
The passages go on to assign lesser values of estimation to the varying age groups, but to this group is the estimation levied upon.
In Numbers 1:1-4 we read, “1 And Yahweh spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,2 Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls;3 From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.4 And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.
Here we see that a person was not eligible to participate in the army unless they had attained a certain age. That age was twenty.
In Numbers 14:26-34 we also read, “26 And Yahweh spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,27 How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.28 Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith Yahweh, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:29 Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward which have murmured against me.30 Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.31 But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.32 But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness.33 And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.
This is one of the most compelling entries in the Bible for the age of accountability being twenty years old. The adults who murmured against Yahweh were not allowed into the Promised Land, except for Caleb and Yahshua the General, both of whom gave good reports of the spied out land of Canaan. Those men responsible for bringing an evil report about the spied out land, died immediately of the plague, before Yahweh.
In Deuteronomy 24:5 we read, “5 When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.This verse is very interesting. It tells us that a man shall not go out to war, which presumes, as we have shown previously, that he must be 20 years old or older. It would seem prudent for a young man to be at least 20 years old then, before he consummates a marriage, and that the happy couple should have one full year to get to know each other and adjust to married life before resuming full responsibilities. It would seem logical that the parents of the twenty year old male shall have helped him prepare to fulfill this directive of a year at home, by saving up money and storing a years worth of provisions for the couple. Further more, preparation and rehearsal for the Sabbatical year should have well prepared them to more easily carry this directive out.
Furthermore, we see no indication in the Bible of an alternative age of accountability. At the age of twelve, when Yahshua was in the Temple, about His Father’s work, he was still accountable to his earthly parents, as evidenced by their returning to look for him and questioning his absence. Thirteen is the age the Jews perform the Bar/Bat mitzvah, but the children remain under their parents tutelage. A search of the Strong’s Concordance of numbers shows no other such compelling evidence of the answer to the original questions posed at the beginning of this tract. The numbers 13 and 18 are not mentioned in such context. The following is from the web site http://www.mnment.com/barmitzvahs/historical.bar.mitzvah.php: The notion of a Bar/Bat Mitzva dates back to the Talmudic period. This concept of Bar Mitzvah is not discussed in the Bible. It is a concept that the Rabbis of the Talmud created perhaps over 2,000 years ago.
The earliest source of which I am aware on this subject is the Mishnah, ca. 200 C.E., where it is taught that thirteen is the age for responsibility for the mitzvot. (Avot 5:23) There were some authorities which held people fully responsible only at the age of 20, but this was a decided minority.
The rabbis determined that a girl at age 12(and one day) and a boy at age 13(and one day- brought to your attention so as not to introduce the fallacy that the Jews really mean from conception-this is their definition also taken from the above site (editor‘s clarification), had reached an age where they were old enough to know right from wrong and should have enough self-discipline to choose to do what is right. Bar- son and daughter- bat mitzva- commandment- you are now legally responsible for fulfilling the commandments which are part of being a Jewish adult. One becomes a Bar or Bat Mitzva upon reaching the age of responsibility. One also gains certain privileges, such as being able to be counted in a prayer quorum- minyan, and being able to recite the blessings at the Torah reading- aliya. Initially, the Bar Mitzva was publicly celebrated by doing this for the first time, perhaps giving a short talk with an explanation of the Torah reading, and one's parents providing juice and cookies following the service. It has only taken on a life of its own in relatively recent times.
We find the preceding to be contrary to what we read in the scriptures.
Society and its humanism and secularism has decided that age 18 is the optimal age to put a child out into the world to fend for itself.
While some children may be exceptions to the rule, generally having a child move out of the house at age 18, shaves off two whole years for the opportunity to reinforce Biblical concepts to the child as they approach the time when they will become an adult. We, personally, would rather look to the scriptures to help us decide the optimal age to expect to hand over full accountability to our children. In light of this information, we surmise that a child should be “around” age 20 to appreciate and accept the responsibility of baptism. The Bible has recorded no accounts of children being baptized, and its silence is compelling. There are plenty of recorded adult baptisms. (Take Yahshua’s for example.) We are certainly not implying that a child does not have a close spiritual relationship with Yahweh before then, but that Yahweh will not hold them “accountable” for wrong actions before then. (Certainly there should be "earthly consequences, by parents, for those wrong actions, they are, indeed, perfect opportunities to reinforce and stress correct actions, based on Torah!) At whatever age you decide is right for your children, it would seem beneficial to see that the child has a clear understanding of what accountability means.

Romans 13- Yahweh's Govt. or Secular Govt.?

Here is a reply post to a woman who is confused by Romans 13 because her heart tells her the state/Feds should have no authority over her husbands' right to educate their children in the manner they see fit.
She knows that Romans 13 is problematic, however she did not do the research to figure out why.

We do believe that those verses have been misapplied(Romans 13)....if you do a Concordance search, you will see that in the KJV, it says "Higher powers"...."ministers" (vs 6 attending continually to this very thing) and "rulers"(are not a terror togood works(**the kind you do to show you have Faith**), but to evil(**sinning***))....please also keep in mind that the letters, when originally written, were not numbered or put into paragraphs, so one should really start at the beginning of the book and remain in continuity, not breaking things up. Higher is number 5242, and has better, excellency, higher, supreme in the definition.....powers is # 1849 and has heavenly, lawful in the meaning. Ministers(verse 4), # 3011 has, a functionary in theTemple or Gospel, a worshipper of God. Rulers is 758, Chief ruler,to be first, reign over.The Holy Spirit leads me to believe that the writer was intending for the "believer" to be listening to the "governmental authority"of the gospel.........since Yahweh is my chief ruler, higher power,magistrate,heavenly and lawful and my Elders *where I worship* are worshippers of Yahweh(God).......We try to stay in the Spirit while reading, not carry preconceived,perhaps convenient political, interpretations.
