Barley update by Nehemia Gordon

#002: Pre-Aviv in the Jordan Valley Feb 27, 2015

DSCF0129-Jordan-Valley-Feb-27-2015-smallI went down to examine the barley in the Jordan Valley today (Friday Feb 27, 2015). I was thought I might find barley in the vegetative state (like grass) after the snow and hail. Instead, I found barley in the flowering stage. This means there’s a very good chance that the barley will be Aviv by the end of the 12th Hebrew month. This would make the new moon on Saturday March 21 the beginning of the Hebrew year. Here’s a discussion I carried out in the field with Devorah Gordon about the Aviv in general and this year in particular. -Nehemia

New Moon of the 12th month

12th New Moon and Aviv 2015

New Moon Sighted on Feb 20, 2015 from Jerusalem

New moon sighted from Jerusalem on Feb 20, 2015 by Gil Ashendorf at 5:54pm and Devorah Levine at 5:57pm. The photo at the top of this message was taken by Devorah Levine from Jerusalem.
We will be carrying out this year’s Aviv Search on March 19-20, at the end of the 12th Hebrew month. The new moon should be visible (barring clouds) on Shabbat March 21, 2015. If the barley is Aviv, then Chag HaMatzot (Feast of Unleavened Bread) will begin on Saturday night, April 4 and Shavuot will fall out 50 days later on Sunday May 24, 2015. This will result in a rare convergence in which the Biblical Shavuot will coincide with the Rabbinical Shavuot and the Christian Pentecost. Of course, if we don’t find the Aviv by March 21, the Biblical dates will all be a month later.

Please join us in helping Michael Rood with medical bills

On Tuesday afternoon, Michael Rood did not feel as he should and went to the hospital to check things out.
Praise YeHoVaH that he did.
While at the hospital it was discovered that Michael had extensive blockages in all of his major arteries
quintuple bypass surgery has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 24.
However... there are two things we want you to know about the situation.
#1 - Michael Rood is a strong man! The doctors were amazed that he walked himself into the hospital. We know that YeHoVaH has a purpose for Michael.
#2 - Michael does not have health insurance. The VA is refusing to pay for this very urgent surgery.
It has been estimated by the hospital that this surgery will cost at least $150,000 - if everything goes perfectly.
We ask that you prayerfully consider donating to help save Michael's life.
This account has been set up to receive donations solely for this purpose.  100% of all donations will go directly to pay Michael's medical expenses.
