New Moon of Aviv Sighted

On Monday March 31, 2014 the New moon of the Aviv was sighted in Israel. Yoel Halevi sighted the moon from Kiryat Ata at 7:25pm and Gadi Eidelheit sighted the moon from Kerem BeYavneh at 7:30pm. Photos of the moon from both locations have been posted at:

The Feast of Unleavened Bread will be Sunset Monday April 14 through Sunset Monday April 21.

The moon was not visible from southern Israel where Keith Johnson and I attempted to sight it. However, we shared a behind-the-scenes look at a difficult new moon sighting (and the importance of not sighting the moon) in an exclusive audio blog posted here:

The new moon was also sighted from Keren BeYavneh by Gadi Eidelheit at 7:30pm. Someone say, "Second witness!!!" Rosh Hashanah Sameach! Happy New Year!
